Legacy Website Upgrade + Maintenance: Arc 1
WordPress, Database, Migration, Security
Fall 2022 / Winter 2023 Project – American Film and Machinery
One of the first goals I sought to achieve with Engage Technologies was upgrading their and its three divisions’ websites (American Film and Machinery, Eastey, and Squid Ink). The current administration processes, web optimizations, and securities were outdated, which hindered performance, online presence, and efficiency. Each of the websites run on a legacy version of WordPress and on a theme that halted development and updates years ago.
Without an existing knowledge base from the company’s previous webmaster, the first arc was to audit the current websites, understand and collaborate with different departments and entities that utilize and comprise the websites, and then charter the project.
The project consists of four major website arcs, the American Film and Machinery website having been the first in queue for deployment. This arc took four months to complete, and is likely to be the longest arc of the four. Acquiring the knowledge and establishing the course of actions throughout the process would serve as the template for the later arcs. The company and I presented and unveiled the completion of this project arc in the Winter of 2023 during its company wide Annual Sales Team Meeting.
